The empowering and diverse group of women I have met and come to love dearly, inspire me every day. “Being a first-generation minority college student comes with a lot of battles. There is very limited family guidance, cultural adjustment, dealing with imposter syndrome, overcoming stereotypes, and dealing with the pressure to succeed which can play a huge role in your mental health, I know it plays a huge role with mine. Being in Alpha Phi allows me to lean on my sisters for support and help guide me through my challenges. Before joining Aphi, I struggled with imposter syndrome and finding my place at Marquette. Now as a sophomore, I can proudly say that I know that I belong at Marquette and will continue to break generational barriers.” - Maritza Rodriguez
